what to expect in therapy with us
Therapy is an investment and we take that seriously.
We don’t take your investment in therapy lightly, which is why we want to make sure we answer all of your questions before you commit to working with us.
Your Investment
Our fees vary from $100 to $380 per session, depending on the service and clinician. The rates and schedules for our different team members are listed below.
INSURANCE
Please note that we are not in-network with any insurance providers. The topics we explore with our clients in relationship therapy are very personal. We made the decision not to work directly with insurance providers to protect your privacy and to ensure there are no limitations to the services you receive. We are happy to provide you with a medical receipt for out-of-network billing if you’d like to file for reimbursement directly with your insurance company.
Book a Free consultation
We understand the importance of finding a therapist who’s not only qualified to help you reach your goals but also one with whom you have a really great relationship. It’s why we offer all prospective clients a complimentary 20-minute consultation. Therapy is an investment of your time, energy and money, and it’s so important to us that we’re the right fit for what you need.

As a specialized group practice focused exclusively on relationships—whether with individuals, couples, or partnerships—you’re choosing a team of highly trained, exceptionally qualified therapists dedicated to helping you build and sustain healthy, long-lasting relationships.
We believe secure relationships are the foundation of a fulfilling life. That’s why we invest deeply in our therapists’ continued education, specialized certifications, and attachment-based training.
Our commitment to the most up-to-date, evidence-based methods means you’ll receive care that not only brings relief to any relationship struggles, but equips you with the skills to create a strong, secure foundation—together.
-
Every relationship is unique—and yours is no exception. This is why we offer a customized approach designed to address your specific concerns, needs, and goals. This personalized approach requires thoughtful time, effort, and resources, which we can provide in a specialized setting.
-
Investing in therapy now can save you significant emotional, relational, and financial costs in the future. Building a strong, healthy relationship not only improves your day-to-day life but, in many cases, has a positive impact on every area of your life—parenting, work, friendships, and your self-esteem. Relationship therapy also may reduce the likelihood of more intense or painful issues arising down the road, which may require costly or more intensive interventions.
-
While you may need more intensive support when starting couples therapy, working with a specialist from the beginning allows you to feel truly understood, relieve distress more quickly, and receive customized solutions from an expert in your unique challenges.
We prioritize quality over quantity, dedicating significant time and energy to each session. You’ll receive tailored tools, insights, and strategies to address your specific challenges and create lasting change.
-
Our therapists are highly trained, experienced professionals with not just specific expertise in couples therapy but also in special populations within a relationship— including multicultural relationships, neurodivergent couples, blended families, affair recovery, LGBTQ+ relationships, parents of special needs children, and more. Tihs means you aren’t just working with a relationship specialist, but one who has even more depth of training around the unique issues you may face, based on your identities. This allows therapy to feel more effective, allows you to feel understood and seen more quickly
-
We’re a comprehensive practice where you can find the support you need for any relationship concern, all under one roof. In addition to couples and relationship therapy, our team includes specialists in individual therapy, family therapy, and other concerns, offering seamless, coordinated care for whatever arises in your life or relationships.

Insurance
We do not accept insurance and are not in-network providers. If you need therapy covered by your insurance, we recommend contacting your insurance company for a list of their providers.
Before starting couples therapy, check with your insurance to see if they reimburse for CPT code 90847 with a diagnosis. Often, insurance doesn’t cover couples or family therapy unless it’s deemed medically necessary for a diagnosed patient.
If you have out-of-network coverage (usually a PPO plan), we can provide a monthly superbill for you to request partial reimbursement from your insurance company. If you are using out-of-network coverage, your insurance plan will require us to identify a “patient” and provide a diagnosis.

Benefits of Private Pay Therapy
Heights Couples Therapy is a private-pay, specialty group practice that is not in-network with any insurance providers. This model offers several advantages, including greater flexibility, personalized care, and a treatment approach tailored entirely to your needs.
-
In a private pay practice, your personal and therapeutic information is kept between you and your therapist. Your privacy is protected to a higher degree, giving you more control over your private information. While there are some instances where insurance companies can ask for access to your treatment details or diagnosis for reimbursement purposes, you still have greater control during these instances than receiving care at an insurance-based practice.
-
With a private pay practice, there’s pricing transparency from the very first contact. Before you start therapy, you’ll know exactly what to expect without worrying about unexpected copays or denied claims. We believe in clear, upfront communication about fees, so you’re never caught off guard.
-
Choosing private pay therapy is an investment in the future of your relationship and well-being. You are committed to creating lasting change and prioritizing your relationship—and yourself.
-
By choosing a private pay group practice, you’re ensuring that your therapy process is uninterrupted. Insurance can sometimes dictate the number of sessions you're entitled to or create bureaucratic delays. With private pay, we can maintain a consistent, uninterrupted process, which is essential when you are doing the delicate work of creating change in yourself or your relationship. We can work together towards your therapy goals without any administrative hurdles.
-
When you choose private pay for couples therapy, you gain access to sooner availability without the restrictions of insurance provider requirements. We don’t maintain a long waitlist that could leave you struggling for months before starting therapy. Instead, our practice ensures you can get the support you need when you need it without unnecessary delays.
-
Private pay therapy allows us to create a treatment plan and offer care that’s completely tailored to your needs without being influenced or constricted by the limitations of insurance policies. We have the freedom to choose the best therapeutic approaches and interventions for your relationship without worrying about meeting insurance criteria or having to cut sessions short to meet billing code requirements.
FAQ
-
We have a no-cancellation policy for scheduled appointments. For clients who are not able to make their scheduled appointment, every effort will be made to reschedule their missed appointment. Clients have a 3 week window (the week before the missed appointment, the week of the missed appointment, and the week after the missed appointment) in which to reschedule their appointment. That may mean doubling up with 2 appointments in one week. We are also flexible about switching sessions online or changing the format (e.g., to individual sessions or to longer 2-3 hour sessions). Clients may cancel at any time, for any reason, with no fee, once every 3 months.
-
We work with clients primarily in person. Online sessions are used when extra flexibility is needed. For example, rather than canceling when one partner is out of town, we have the option to move the session online.
-
We ask that all clients have a credit card on file in their secure online account. We accept all major credit cards, HSA cards, and FSA cards (yes, you can use these benefits towards therapy!) Sessions are billed automatically on the day of your appointment. However, you may pay with cash or check at the time of your appointment if you prefer.
-
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost, and you WILL receive one as a part of your initial intake paperwork with your specific estimates.
-
You will receive a specific Good Faith Estimate with the exact totals you can expect during your time with us. But we understand that cost can be a deciding factor for many so to help you estimate costs here are some basic fees.
Costs are shown for Individual Rate/Couples Rate :
Laura $275/$380
Rachel $200/$275
Amy or Steven $170/$220
Deanna $100/$150
Most clients will attend one psychotherapy visit per week, but the frequency of psychotherapy visits that are appropriate in your case may be more or less than once per week, depending upon your needs.
