Charisse’s Approach
Described as caring, thoughtful, and mindful by others, my approach is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), person-centered work, and systems theory to help you see how you shape the relationships you are in, and, in turn, are shaped by others. I offer mindfulness practices to slow down overwhelming moments, parts work to help clients understand their inner emotional world, and DBT skills for managing intense emotions. Education on cultural identity, attachment, and trauma is central to my work because making sense of your experiences—especially when everything feels confusing—can be a powerful step toward healing and growth.
Fun Facts
I’m Filipino, and identify with being part of the South East Texas Community, with a heavy Louisiana influence from my time in Beaumont, TX.
I love R&B and used to dance competitively.
I’m ambidextrous and can write with both hands! Unfortunately, it doesn’t give me an advantage at sports.
I used to teach English to the Royal Family in Bangkok, Thailand.
ABOUT Charisse (She/her)
I work with individuals and couples who feel caught “in between” worlds or phases of identity—whether that’s navigating differing cultural backgrounds, feeling misunderstood or unheard by their partner, navigating with a recent loss, or exploring the impact of intergenerational trauma on their identity.
I know you and your partner care deeply for each other—even if that’s hard to feel right now. I can help you bring more calm and grounding to your most tense moments, so conflict becomes a path to deeper understanding rather than disconnection.
Through our work, your relationship can become a source of unwavering support, where you not only know—but truly feel how much your partner cherishes you. This powerful shift doesn’t just transform your relationship, it sends positive ripples into every part of your life.
FOR MULTI-Cultural or Cross-Cultural Couples
If you and your partner come from different cultural backgrounds, you may feel torn between your relationship and your families, unsure how to balance loyalties. I can guide you in fostering compassion and understanding so you don’t have to choose between family or your partner. You’ll learn to discuss race, ethnicity, and ancestry in a way that brings you closer together, deepening your connection instead of causing distress or betrayal.
For men who withdraw FROM THEIR PARTNER during conflict:
If you struggle with shutting down or withdrawing from your partner during an argument, you may feel misunderstood or confused by your behavior. The truth is, your withdrawal may be rooted in fear of losing your partner or as a means to protect the relationship—even though it has now become a troubling dynamic. In therapy, you’ll learn to slow down, express your emotions in a way you can feel truly understood, and reconnect safely with your partner during conflict.
